Sr Manager Core Optics

Job Responsibilities

Your specific duties as a Sr Manager Core Optics will include:

  • The Optics Manager is responsible to lead the global optics engineering team through the product development and production delivery in order to achieve the project and company and customer-mandated targets.
  • Directly manages optics engineers, optics co-op/intern students in the product development and project deliveries.
  • Be the technical expert in camera optics field to guide product development and make sound decisions.
  • Acts as primary customer and internal interface for all escalated optics technical issues.
  • Plans, tracks and reports optical resources in supporting advanced, core and application development of product/programs.
  • Provides technical leadership in directing the efforts of optical engineering team in the development and release of all relevant engineering deliverables in compliance with the product development process and/or customer expectations.
  • Approve GPEP tailored deliverable matrix and all phase checklists
  • Supports the application engineering manager in developing engineering quote response for new programs and customer changes after award of business
  • Responsibilities include, interviewing, hiring, training, reward and disciplinary actions, and performance appraisals of employees.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts for products, processes and programs.
  • Ensures compliance to Company procedures (e.g. Process - Work Instructions) and applicable standards (e.g. ISO/TS 16949, ISO/IEC TR 15504).
  • Be responsible for planning budget for engineering resource, capital and expense and execute according to the budget plan.

Job Requirements

As a Sr Manager Core Optics you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • PhD in optical engineering, physics and related field (Master’s with extended and relevant experiences can be considered)
  • 10 years’ engineering experience regarding optics system/component design, testing or manufacturing in automotive, consumer or other high volume product industry.
  • Minimum 5 years’ optical camera engineering experience
  • >3 years’ experience with team supervision responsibility.
  • Experience or understanding of camera mechanical design and packaging, electrical design, software and their impacts to optical performance.
  • Experience of automotive, consumer or professional camera performance test specifications and test methodologies
  • Good track record of developing and managing optical suppliers
  • Familiarity of automotive OEM camera specification, and environmental and durability requirement specification for automotive electronics modules
  • Able to work effectively in a global environment
  • Able to lead and motivate a global optics team
  • Able to present technical topics internally and externally
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Travel (domestic and international) may be needed
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office package (especially Excel)
