This is a contract position; however it is not uncommon for assignments to transition into permanent positions with our client companies. Job Responsibilities                                              

Your specific duties as a Project Manager will include:       

  • This position has single point accountability for assigned projects, and in some cases may be under the general direction of a Sr. Project Manager. The Project Manager II (PM-II) position is responsible for the management of all phases of project planning and execution to ensure all project success factors are met, including but not limited to scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration.
  • This position typically is assigned projects ranging from 'White II' to 'Green III' in ranking and are of significant size and complexity, potentially greater than 36 months in duration, generally less than $100M with a high level of complexity, and potentially impacting the legal entity or the entire Company. Work scope will range from routine to 'first time application' of technology. The PM-II will be responsible for managing a large number of projects, typically 20 to 40, concurrently.
  • The PM-II serves as the unifying agent providing leadership, management, direction, coordination, and control of the overall project in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements of The Company.
  • Assigned projects involve significant modification and construction of both substation and transmission line facilities, including engineering, procurement, and construction of field components including Transmission facilities, Transmission/Distribution facilities, and some Generation related facilities. The PM will leverage project teams composed of matrixed employees and/or contractors. The PM manages all members of the team on a daily basis and is responsible for ensuring that project teams are staffed appropriately and responsible for working with functional managers to remove nonperforming members.
  • Create / Lead Project Teams. Provide leadership, oversight management, delegation, and coordination to the various internal and external organizations that are providing services to the project. The PM manages all matrixed members of the team on a daily basis and is responsible for interfacing with functional managers of team members, regarding placement, development, and conflict resolution.
  • Establish and maintain communications among all project/program stakeholders. Structure, lead, and/or assist in leading all project related meetings and reports required to ensure open communication between all team members, key stakeholders, and management and to properly report project status. Assure that Project Plan, all appropriate reports and reporting means are developed and managed according to PMCoE Standards, Present reports to appropriate management / governance team skillfully.
  • Plan the project(s) assigned to, including scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality aspect of the project. Drive the process of project planning including scope definition, estimating, schedule formation and monitoring, cost control measures, procurement/contracting strategies, equipment selection, vendor selection, start-up and commissioning plans, and integration processes. This includes project planning and execution activities like scope definition, detailed design, construction, start-up and commissioning, turnover to operations, and warranty management.

Job Requirements

As a Project Manager you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • PM experience with a multifaceted background in engineering, project controls, supply chain, and IT
  • Experience structuring engineering and construction projects, negotiating contracts, dispute resolution
  • Experience in Electric Transmission or Distribution projects
  • Knowledge of current environmental regulatory issues regarding Transmission facilities development permitting and operations
  • Ability to represent the Company before outside bodies (regulatory, community, State permitting agencies, mediators, customers, etc.
