This is a contract position; however it is not uncommon for assignments to transition into permanent positions with our client companies. Job Responsibilities                                              

Your specific duties as a HMI Designer will include:           

  • The Human Interface Designer is responsible for working with a small team of User Experience and Graphic Designers to create the designs for these features.
  • The individual in this role will help to achieve world class User Experience Designs using the latest technologies available.
  • Features are implemented in our in-vehicle systems, in smartphone displays, on the web, and in wearable devices.
  • Coordinate activities with a team of user experience designers.
  • Provide UX leadership and project direction, create effective team workflow, and maintain innovative design vision.
  • Ensure delivery of consistently high-quality designs and documentation within budget.
  • Create human interfaces for team features across mobile, in-vehicle, wearable and web platforms.
  • Oversee HI design from research, concept, strategy, wireframes, interactive prototypes, graphical production, and front-end development to testing and launch.
  • Drive cross-functional design iterations.
  • Interface with Product Design Office, Human Machine Interface, and agency teams.
  • Host regular design reviews and brainstorms with internal staff and external departments.
  • Translate customer requirements into early concepts by way of design, prototype and experimentation.
  • Scope out product vision with data architects and feature owners to establish functional requirements.
  • Support business vision with interactive storytelling.
  • Set standards for design innovation and best practices.
  • Publish design strategies, style guides, specification and design libraries for the team.

Job Requirements

As a HMI Designer you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Bachelor degree required – Masters preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in designing interactive products in mobile, wearable, modern web and in-vehicle platforms.
  • 2-5 years of experience 2D – 3D animation.
  • 2-5 years of experience with AutoDesk 3DS Max or Maya. 
  • Seasoned in iOS and Android mobile design.
  • Experienced with all aspects of information architecture, HI and visual design.
  • Experienced with Altia or other Graphical design tools.
  • Effective with constructive feedback and inclusive design.
  • Proven ability to articulate designs to stakeholders with written and oral communication.
  • Exceptional attention to detail. Ability to guide complex projects to elegant and simple design solutions.
  • Strong ability with conceptualization and visualization.
  • Strong working knowledge with Abode Creative Suite tools, Sketch, OmniGraffle, UX prototyping and user research tools.
