Compensation (Range): $49-$50/ hour

This is a contract position; however it is not uncommon for assignments to transition into permanent positions with our client companies. Job Responsibilities                                              

Your specific duties as an Application Database Administrator will include:  

  • Leads the review and formation of processes to create and manage physical data models for applications, data warehouse, and data marts.
  • Creates and manages logical data models for an enterprise and/or project level where projects are of medium to high complexity and moderate to high in risk.
  • Documents and maps interaction between business processes, information, and data to ensure that business has data integration for projects which are of medium to high complexity and moderate to high in risk.
  • Performs gap analysis (including problem resolution and change management) and evaluation between information requirements and the quality of design of database and database administration environment of vendor purchased and/or outsource solutions, actively working to share knowledge.
  • Manages physical design and integration of databases to support information requirements where projects are of medium to high complexity and moderate to high in risk.
  • Develops, implements, and supports methodologies, standards, and tools for data management such as metadata management, data mining, data modeling, data cleansing, transformation and matching, data stewardship, data quality, data integration, data security, and data marts.
  • Provides input to design of application systems and interfaces to ensure data access, integration, integrity, and security for projects which are of medium to high complexity and moderate to high in risk.
  • Leads the effort of performing database/application performance tuning, data transformation and mapping, backup, and recovery of application databases including design and development of disaster recovery procedures which ensure enterprise data consistency.

Job Requirements

As an Application Database Administrator you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Respond to and address nightly abends or issues
  • Address end-user questions or concerns regarding databases
  • Monitor database activity and respond to any issues
  • Build or modify database structures
  • Assist with end-users query performance review by making SQL change suggestions or adding / modify indexes
  • Monitor and respond to database requests from end users and developers
  • Strong Mainframe DB2 DBA experience
  • SQL tuning experience
  • Experience using BMC suite of tools, including Catalog Manager, Change Manager, DASD Manager, AppTune, etc.
  • Experience using Power Designer, or equivalent data modeling tool
  • PREFERRED: Experience coding in Cobol and/or Java
