This is a contract position; however it is not uncommon for assignments to transition into permanent positions with our client companies. Applicant must be eligible to work in the US for immediate opening.  For this opportunity, the successful candidate will be directly employed by Bartech Staffing as a W2 employee while providing services to our end client.

Electrical Diagnostic Technical Writer        

Job Responsibilities                                              

Your specific duties as a Electrical Diagnostic Technical Writer will include: 

  • Electrical Diagnostic Authoring.
  • Develop electrical diagnostics using diagnostic specifications, electrical schematics, and other support information. Provide authoring support for one or more Service Categories (Body and Chassis systems) in the service manual used by technicians.
  • The job involves writing electrical diagnostics in ArborText Editor and working in a database to save the authored documents.
  • Hands-on experience is required for on-vehicle diagnostic verification.
  • The author will disassemble / assemble vehicles to access system components to ensure diagnostic steps are accurate.

Job Requirements

As a Electrical Diagnostic Technical Writer you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • 2 years min. experience
  • College Degree - preferred (Please note that while a degree is not required for this role, it would be required to be hired in direct in the future with GM)
  • Hands-on automotive experience – electrical
  • Ability to read automotive electrical schematics
  • Experience with office tools – MS Excel, Word, Outlook, etc
  • ASEP graduate is a plus (Team has had great luck with Macomb Community college program graduates)
  • Process driven - Ability to follow a specific process for developing electrical diagnostics
  • Energetic - Ability to interface with multiple teams to gather information needed for developing diagnostics
  • Focused – Ability to be able to self-manage time to complete deliverable on a defined schedule
