This is a contract position; however it is not uncommon for assignments to transition into permanent positions with our client companies. Job Responsibilities                                              

Your specific duties as a Dimensional Engineer will include:           

  • Compensation (Range): $35-$42  / hour
  • The Dimensional Engineer is responsible for the development and monitoring of dimensional strategies, tolerance schemes and quality plans for various automotive systems. Plans and develops GD&T layouts, strategic dimensional slip plan documents, tolerance stack ups and VSA and quality plans that allows for balanced design, manufacturing processes and engineering dimensional objectives ensuring the manufacturability and quality objectives for the system and components can be achieved.
  • Develops parts and assembly datums’s tolerances and measurement points
  • Coordinates all datum schemes and assembly sequences required for #D modeling and VSA studies
  • Assists in the development of a control plan for a system of component
  • Preforms variation reduction and dimensional sensitivity studies
  • Performs comparison studies of measured data versus objectives and GD&T specification
  • Assists in continuous improvement and VA/VE activity
  • Researches and analyzes data such as VA studies, specifications, component tooling tolerances to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Performs tolerance analysis (2D stack up studies) on designs and processes
  • Assists in the fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems to confirm to dimensional plan and customer provided quality objectives
  • Defines and monitors the measurement plan
  • Develops the strategic slip plan and dimensional strategy documents
  • Monitors and controls the dimensional objective documents
  • Evaluates assembly fabrication processes and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
  • Provides input to the product design team on dimensional issues and concerns
  • Reviews dimensional control capabilities of tools and dies, processes and assembly sequences
  • Reviews assembly sequence for feasibility of weld, rivet access and tool clamp access
  • Assists in gage repeatability, gage repeatability and reproducibility, tool repeatability and tool and die certification studies

Job Requirements

As a Dimensional Engineer you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must have 2-3 years’ related experience, minimum
  • Candidates should have knowledge of the following:
  • Familiarity with GD&T,
  • Experience in Body, Chassis, and Battery Trays
  • VSA, DVA, and RSS stack-up experience
  • Will need to be able to interface directly with customers
  • Assists in design for assembly (DFA), and manufacturing (DFM), geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) to component and systems
  • Education Requirements: Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree highly preferred
