This is a contract position; however, it is not uncommon for assignments to transition into permanent positions with our client companies. Design Engineer - Lighting       

Job Responsibilities                                              

Your specific duties as a Design Engineer - Lighting will include:    

  • Lead DFSS Projects
  • Lead cross functional team to ensure Requirements, CAE Standard Work, GMW’s, AVDP&R templates are harmonized and technically correct
  • Develop component and sub-system best practice design solutions. Lead best practice integration of components to Body, Electrical, and HVAC Interfaces etc.
  • Ensure PDT timing template is thorough, accurate and cross functionally integrated.
  • Set and maintain Best Value BOM Row Strategy: Integrate Engineering and Sourcing Strategies; Approve Program SOR Packages; Develop Strategies for Complexity Optimization; Develop DDR Baseline Strategies.
  • Maintain Statement of Requirements (SOR) template, Sub System Technical Specification (SSTS) documents and enforce compliance thereof.
  • Lead Peer Review Process: Conduct high quality deep dive design reviews with program DRE’s to ensure all GM executions are technically correct and aligned with BOM Strategies; Guide Best Practice Implementation; Identify Non-Conformances; Elevate Issues; Drive closure of issues; Continue to streamlined Peer Review Process
  • Support AVD Lead and Subsystem Architect: Support all pre-VPI packaging, integration, and design development globally.
  • Support/Lead issue resolutions during Supplier Sourcing, Design, Validation and Program launches.
  • Benchmarking: Capture benchmarking data for Quality, Innovation, Cost, Mass, and Technical Correctness; Understand Global Customer Markets; Support Field Actions Analysis; Facilitate Closed Loop Learning Globally; Ensure competitiveness of components and sub-systems.
  • Capture knowledge and lessons learned globally.
  • Update best practices, requirements, and other technical documentation to ensure knowledge and lessons learned are comprehended
  • Review and approve all program BOM Picks to ensure programs content and solutions are in line with BOM strategies.
  • Interface with team members from Manufacturing assembly operations, GPPC, Finance, Marketing, Design, PQ, Purchasing, CAE, Validation, Vendor Tooling, Materials, Fastening to optimize best practice designs and processes.

As a Design Engineer - Lighting you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual, and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
