Automotive Continuous Improvement Engineer

12 Moths Contract

St. Catharines, ON

WORK SITE

  • Propulsion System Manufacturing Facility

ROLES

  • For new product Launch - Launching a new product / March timeframe - March 1st or even later.
  • Continuous Improvement and Problem Solving.
  • Automotive assembly or machining area.
  • Problem Solving.
  • What can go wrong, and putting a component together - work on a way that defect won't happen.
  • Taking info from field, what went wrong, what caused it and what can be done to improve this.
  • Leader of the group, seeing the big picture, generalist working with everyone.

MAIN SKILLS SET

  • Ability to work with others' - Disposition more than experience. If you are less experienced, need to more of a team fit, good environment
  • Ability to learn
  • Problem solving
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented
  • Problem solving capacity
  • Ability to work in a production environment

TOOLS/TECHNOLOGY – intermediate level

  • MS Powerpoint Intermediate
  • MS Excel Intermediate
  • MS Word Intermediate

SHIFTS

  • Working Primarily days, but may adjust - Typically days.
  • 5-10% of the time will be expected to work another shift or adjust hours to support projects.
  • 24 hour day facility - 14 weeks on day and the 1 week on later shift
  • Common for shifts to change

TRAVELLING

  • Potential for travel - very rare
  • MI, OH, sometimes TN
  • If involved in a new project, could travel to the vendor

INTERVIEWS

  • All remote - video interviews
  • Each candidate to be interviewed twice - 2 team view points
  • Sr. leader, technical manager, engineering team leaders
  • STAR interview - give situations, action, and resulted. What they learned - getting to know that person
